Suspension Lift

Well, I finally broke down and purchased a lift kit. When I first started building the Jeep I wasn't sure a suspension lift was needed. The first trip to Uwharrie National Forrest proved otherwise though. That trip opened my eyes to a lot of problems with my Jeep. I can't wait to get it back on the road with the lift installed. I'm sure it will do much better now.

The parts I installed were purchased from Pete at After Five 4 Wheel Drive. He is a soldier in the U.S. Army who is getting out soon and running his business full time. He's got great prices and is really knowledgeable with Jeeps and just about anything with an engine. Email me and I can get you in contact with him. He is based in Hope Mills, NC and ships parts anywhere. Pete sold me a Procomp 2 1/2 inch suspension lift with ES3000 shocks, 1 1/4 inch shackles, and a dropped pitman arm. I also replaced all my bushings with Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings. Total cost was around $525.

I wish I would have taken pictures of the Jeep during the lifting process but I was too lazy to get the camera out. Anyway, this is the before and after of my Jeep. This is also with the new wheels and tires. I used the same wagon wheel style as before only I ordered them in chrome instead of painted. The tires are Super Swamper TSL Radials. The tire size is 33x12.50/15. I bought the tire and wheel combination through After Five 4 Wheel Drive as well.
